Creed – Anxiety LDS
By Randy Hyde, Ph.D.
I have confidence that I can handle whatever comes up; it is only achallenge or problem to be solved. I solve it with intelligence and the help ofthe Lord and others. I can handle it. Problems and challenges are puzzlesthat need to be solved, and I have fun doing it.
God has said: “And in nothing doth man offend God, or against none is Hiswrath kindled, save those who confess not His hand in all things” D&C 59:7.If His hand is in all things and He is all loving, and is all good, and is mindfulof me; then I will trust Him that all things will work together for my goodbecause I love Him (Romans 8:28).
“If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth” Mark9:23. “When a man works by faith he works by mental exertion instead of byphysical force” Joseph Smith, Lectures on Faith 7:3. I am constantly plantingincredibly confident, faithful, hopeful, optimistic, loving, positive, thankfulthoughts. I instantly weed out of my mind doubts, negativity, insecurity, pessimism, fear, worry, anger. Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny."David O. McKay used to quote frequently. “A Double Minded man isunstable in all his ways” James 1:8. I am single minded – there is oppositionin all things; I choose to think that which is right and good.
I have stopped exaggerating the importance of things. I make molehillsout of mountains. I demonstrate and am an example of great Faith, Hope,Optimism, and Love. I am a problem solver. I do not have a victim mentality;I take responsibility, I do not blame. I seek the Lord and His consecration. Ido not run from problems -- I run to problems and solve them. I do not panic,I think, and then I act decisively. I am the epitome of calmness, peace, and confidence. I am cool under pressure because I trust the outcome. I inspireothers to do the same.
I can only live in the moment – I give it all I have and live it the best I can.I let the future take care of itself and trust that I will give it the best I have -- it will all turn out, it always does. I trust God and myself. Mistakes andfailures are inevitable and I welcome them as an opportunity to learn, grow, and develop into the kind of person I can be. The person who does not fail
“Our doubts are traitors that make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt”. Shakespeare. I do not doubt. I positively predict thefuture with faith and hope. I welcome challenges and opportunities to grow.I face my fears. “Life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing at all” Helen Keller. Whatever happens I can handle it.
"That which we persist in doing becomes easier for us to do, not that thenature of the thing itself is changed, but that our power to do is increased"Emerson. As I practice I will learn to control and govern and create greatthoughts that are empowering and peaceful and loving. It will soon becomea habit that is second nature; then it will become my personality andcharacter. I am loyal to myself. I take care of myself. I am tolerant, patientand forgiving with myself. I love my good heart. I am just a human being,a child of God that is growing, developing, and becoming. I will nurture, bekind and gentle and encouraging with myself, just as I am with others. WhatI do does not have to be perfect. I do not have to be better than others –I just simply have to try, and be well-satisfied with my efforts. Life is nota race or a competition. It is a loving cooperation where we all help andsupport each other based on our several talents.
A noble and Godlike character is not a thing of favor or chance, but is thenatural result of continued effort in right thinking, the effect of long-cherishedassociation with Godlike thoughts. James Allen - As a Man Thinketh "A manis literally what he thinks” James Allen, As a Man Thinketh. It all happens inmy mind. Every thought and every word has power and a consequence – Ithink and speak magnificently! Thoughts and words are real strength.
I live fully and magnificently and enthusiastically in the Now – I amconstantly having a Blast. I cannot relive the past, I cannot live thefuture, I can only live in the immediate now – herein lies real peace andmagnification.
I go to bed satisfied with the day & let tomorrow take care of itself. I preparethe day in prayer and report and give thanks at night. When I go to bed Ilay down unto the Lord. It gives me time to relax, be calm and peaceful. Irelax my mind and body. It’s my time. I love my bed. It’s cozy, comfortable, and peaceful. It is a time for my mind and body to recover. I have peaceful, relaxing, happy thoughts and visualizations.
The greater the pressure the more I relax, that is how Michael Jordanachieved greatness.
I value peace and calmness of mind and body. Performance is increased through relaxation.
“And he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious;and the things of this earth shall be added unto him, even an hundred fold, yea, more” (D&C 78:19). I frequently count my many blessings and amdeeply grateful for all that I have and all that I am.
“Peace I leave with you … Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it beafraid” John 14:27
