Testing for autism involves interviews, completion of questionnaires, and tests administered by a clinician. The type and number of tests used depends on the individual needs of the patient. Autism assessment begins with a clinical interview in which the individual being tested or their parent/guardian is able to explain their symptoms or life circumstances. The next step is administration of a battery of tests designed to find the causes of the individual’s struggles (whether these are due to autism and/or another disorder) and understand the impact these symptoms have in their daily life.  Following completion of the testing, the results are analyzed and written into a report.
